Dom: My agony at leaving Rangers

- EXCLUSIVE by CHRIS JACK

DOMINIC BALL has revealed he could have made a return to Rangers this summer before clinching a switch to Rotherham.

The defender enjoyed a successful season at Ibrox last term after heading north of the border on a loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

Ball was an integral part of Mark Warburton’s side as he made 30 appearances in Light Blue and helped the Gers to the Championship title and Petrofac Training Cup success.

He returned to White Hart Lane in the summer and was a member of the Spurs squad that travelled to Australia in

pre-season as he featured in friendly fixtures against Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

But he was soon heading for the exit door as he linked up with former Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs just weeks after he was named t he new manager of Championship outfit Rotherham.

Many Gers fans were keen to see Warburton make a move to bring Ball back to Ibrox for a shot at the Premiership title this term, but the 21-year-old reckons he has made the right choice to head to the Championship.

Ball told Sport Times: “I spoke to the manager and I am quite close with a few of the players at Rangers. It was an option to come up early on.

“But as soon as Rotherham came in I thought that it was the best one for me to come to the Championship.

“I loved my time at Rangers and I would love to go back at some point. We will see how my career pans out and what lies ahead for me.

“It is a great place to go and play and for me last year it was perfect. If there is an opportunity during the season I will go back up and see the boys and the fans again.”
