Lee: Now is time to show tough side

- By CHRIS JACK

W W LEE WALLACE hopes Rangers can show their mental resolve by getting back to winning ways against Morton tomorrow afternoon.

The Light Blues have dropped five points in their last two Premiership outings against Hearts and Ross County as they have slipped to third place in the standings.

The spotlight is on Wallace and his teammates ahead of the fifth round clash with the Ton and the Ibrox skipper is confident they can handle the heat.

Wallace said: “That is a new trait for someone who has just come in; by that I mean guys who came in 18 months ago and the summer.

“Is that something you have in-built? Look at Kenny Miller. Is that since he’s been a Hibs player? Probably. Is it the same with Clint Hill since he made his professional debut? Probably.

“Having mental strength absolutely has to happen here. Can you develop that?

“You probably can because you need to get used to the environment and circumstances in that draws at home to Ross County aren’t acceptable. A 4-1 defeat at Tynecastle is not acceptable.

“We had this last season in the Championship when we had poor results. It’s not something we’ve been lacking, it’s something we can certainly do better at when we are facing a bit of adversity.

“We only get that by staying united.”

The fight to finish second in the Premiership is the main battle for Rangers in the coming months but they also have a chance to clinch a return t to Hampden.

Wallace has been t through the highs and lows d during his time in Light Blue and is determined to have a medal around his n neck.

He said: “I’m aware I’m p potentially the least well off Rangers captain ever in terms of winning what I always refer to Rangers silverware.

“that is part of the challenge. I’m not going to sit here and cry about it.

“My ambition is that we c can get that back with this group of players and I’m sure we will get there.”
