Publictohavesayon£14mdevelopment
PLANS for a regional sports centre and housing development have been opened up to the public for their input in shaping the multi-million pound developments.
The consideration of proposals for the major proposals is to be taken up by leaders of Renfrewshire Council.
However the views of the public are being taken on board before the decisions are taken.
The first of the plans is a £14mil- lion regional sports facility which has been developed in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland and St Mirren FC.
The development aims to provide jobs, health improvements and activities. It will provide football, rugby and hockey as well as a sports clinic.
The other plan is to develop housing in Ferguslie Park.
The proposals involve investing in existing properties in Tannahill Road and Tannahill Crescent.
It would also involve the demolition of low demand and vacant properties and developing a small number of new affordable homes.
If plans are approved by councillors, consultation on the proposals is anticipated to start in early March.
Tommy Williams, Renfrewshire Council’s convener of housing, said: “The regeneration of Ferguslie Park is a priority for the council.
“We are determined that proposals are led by the local community and I’m very pleased that the plans to be considered by the Board reflect the outcomes of our community consultation in summer 2017.”
On the sports facility, he added: “The sports proposals have also been developed to include additional facilities and improve transport links to the area to reflect the views expressed.”
