Lenny: I don’t care about anything but results

- By DAVID BALFOUR

NEIL LENNON insists he doesn’t care what the neutrals think – so long as his Hibs side keeps winning.

Lennon learned lessons watching Hearts’ recent 4-1 demolition of Rangers and admits he set his team out not to lose last weekend’s turgid Edinburgh derby.

Both sides struggled to adapt to the conditions in the Scottish Cup stalemate at Tynecastle, but Lennon says he only cares about results. He said: “Listen, I’m not here for the neutrals. I really don’t care what they thought. My remit was to either get through or make sure we didn’t get beat.

“If teams try to play when the ball is bobbling, it becomes very difficult on poor pitches. I looked at the pitch on Sunday and said, ‘We are going to be a little bit more direct and put them under pressure’.

“It might not have been a classic, but I don’t care. I watched Rangers a few weeks earlier try to play a certain way and they got beat 4-1. I certainly didn’t want that happening to me.”

And Lennon expects the Easter Road pitch to be more conducive to flowing football when the sides meet again next Wednesday.

Lennon added: “People are saying that Easter Road will suit Hearts – well, it will certainly suit Hibs.

“But my philosophy is to win. Whether you win as well as you can or by as little as you can, it makes your weekend a lot better.”
