Don’t call Ton stars ‘glorious failures’

- By KIERAN PORTER

MICHAEL TIDSER has warned that Morton don’t want to be branded glorious failures after losing 2-1 to Rangers in the Scottish Cup last weekend.

The plucky Greenock side earned plaudits after coming close to causing a major upset at Ibrox.

Tidser’s first-half strike gave Jim Duffy’s side hope of pulling off an upset.

But second half-goals from Kenny Miller and Martyn Waghorn saw the Ibrox side edge into the quarter-finals in Mark Warburton’s Ibrox swansong.

Now, though, Morton are fully focused on tomorrow’s Cappielow crunch league showdown with fellow-promotion chasing rivals Falkirk.

He said: “We gave a good gave account of ourselves as we always do, we always work hard and try and get through or get three points – to go for it and try and win the game, that’s the manager’s style.

“We’re not just content to go there and lose narrowly. The gaffer doesn’t work like that, it’s as simple as that and he’s instilled that mentality into the players as well.

“We’re disappointed and that shows the measure of this squad and the kind of direction we want to go as a club. Now, we dust ourselves down and move on.”

Tidser is still basking in the compliments he received for the goal that silenced the Ibrox crowd on Sunday.

He told the club website: “I must admit I’m really proud because as a boy growing up you dream of scoring at places like Ibrox.”
