Fowler: Four in a row for Saints to floor Celtic

- By GRAEME McGARRY

ST MIRREN will head to domestically unbeaten Celtic tomorrow not just looking to make up the numbers but out to keep their own positive trajectory going.

After looking like they were slipping quietly towards relegation to League One the Paisley side are now embracing games and view coming up against Brendan Rogers’ as the chance to secure a fourth win in a row.

East Fife, The New Saints and Hibs have all been defeated in recent weeks in different competitions and there is talk at the Paisley 2021 Stadium of seeing off Celtic as well.

Assistant manager James Fowler said: “Jack Ross is a manager who is always really positive and he has talked to the players about winning.

“We are in one cup final already and would love to progress in this competition.”

“Jack took Alloa to Celtic earlier this season and gave them a fright before losing 2-0. He will look to do the same with St Mirren.”

“We have prepared well as we had everyone back in on Thursday the day after the Hibs game and had another session on Friday. We will complete our pre- game work on Saturday before heading to a hotel. The club have agreed to put us up for the night to give us as good a chance as possible of getting a result.”

Fowler added: “There was a bit of added pressure after Ayr winning the night before we played Hibs.

“The players handled that and turned in their best display of the season. We could not have asked for much more from them in the run-up to this game and perhaps facing Celtic has given us a focus as everyone wants want to be involved.”

“Celtic are a different proposition to what we have faced in our time at St Mirren.

“They are on fire and we know that we have to be at our best simply to compete but we will look to do that.”
