Point made by JP’s Clyde

- By KEN McNAB

CLYDE’S management team were delighted to finally stop the club’s form freefall with a gritty 2-2 draw with Ladbrokes League Two pacesetters Forfar at Broadwood.

Peter MacDonald and Jon Paul McGovern were handed the reins on Thursday until the end of the season after Barry Ferguson’s exit.

Forfar grabbed a first-half lead when Danny Denholm took advantage of some sloppy play in midfield and blasted a superb shot into the top corner of the goal.

But Clyde struck back through a MacDonald penalty aftetr the restart before David Gormley put them in front.

However, the lead lasted just 10 minutes before James Lister secured a point for the visitors.

McGovern, though, was happy to see Clyde finally stop the rot that had seen their hopes of making the play-offs vanish.

He said: “I am Absolutely delighted not just with the result but the performance.

“We had a meeting on Thursday and we put everything out on the table, all the excuses out the way. And we all understand now we can do better.

“We asked for a platform to move forward and that’s what we got today.

“We’ll work on things like how to defend better. We were disappointed at losing the two goals.

“It’s been a strange week with the change of manager and Peter and I taking over but it says a lot about the boys over the way they have handled it.

“We have been under performing but we are working to get the best out of the team.

“We are delighted to be given the job until the end of the season. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us both.

“It’s a fantastic club with a fantastic stadium and with the fans. The set-up is there for us to go higher.

“My phone has been on charge constantly having to deal with all the bits and bobs you don’t appreciate as a player.”
