MAN SHOT IN ‘TARGETED ATTACK’
APROBE has been launched following a targeted shooting on a quiet housing estate.
A 42-year-old man is in hospital after he was blasted by a gunman late last night.
A MAN is in hospital after a targeted shooting on a plush residential estate.
The 42-year-old was blasted on Honeywell Drive, Stepps around 9.05pm last night.
He was rushed to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, and medics describe his condition as stable.
The victim is reported to have been sitting in a car when a vehicle pulled up alongside him.
It is understood the gunman then fired shots at him before speeding off from the quiet Crowwood Grange estate.
A police spokeswoman said: “Around 9.05pm on Sunday March 12, 2017, police received a report of a 42 year-old man injured following a shooting incident in Honeywell Drive, Stepps.
“Police attended and the injured man has been taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment.
“Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
“This appears to be a targeted attack and officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the local area to gather more information on the circumstances.”
The Stepps attack is the fourth targeted shooting to happen in and around Glasgow in the last four months, with businessman Ross Craig being blasted outside his home on Thursday last week.
The 34-year-old owner of florist firm Regal Roses was gunned down on Shawhill Road in the south side.
It is reported he was about the take his children to nursery when he was blasted in the leg - an attack which police are treating as attempted murder.
The Evening Times previously reported how one eye witness saw Craig covered in blood just after incident, which happened around 8.10am on March 9.
Just seven weeks earlier, Ross Monaghan was shot outside St George’s primary school in Penilee while on the school run.
The botched assassination attempt on January 16 was carried out by a man pushing an empty pram, from which he pulled out the gun and shot Monaghan in the back.
Monaghan and his family are understood to have fled to Spain following the incident.
In another shooting incident, Maryhill man Euan Johnston died after being targeted by a gunman in his car in November.
The 26-year-old, known as EJ, was in a black Audi RS4 on Shields Road, at the junction of Scotland Street when the fatal blow was delivered.
The gunman drove up beside him in a dark-coloured Audi Q5, shot him and sped off .

Nobody has yet been charged in relation to any of the attacks, although police continue to carry out extensive enquiries.
A reward of £5000 has also been offered by Crimestoppers for information relating to the Penilee attack.
