Accies not Don for yet but thrashings can’t continue

- By GRAEME MACPHERSON

HAMILTON midfielder Massimo Donati admitted recent performances haven’t been good enough after shipping 10 goals in their last two games.

Martin Canning’s side followed up their 6-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Rangers by losing 4-0 to Hearts on Saturday and former Celtic man Donati hoped they could put those results behind them in a bid to save their season. Accies find themselves mired in the relegation play-off scrap – just one point ahead of bottom side Inverness –and Donati hopes they can bounce back quickly, starting with this weekend’s visit to Ibrox.

He said: “We have lost 4-0 and when you do that there is not a lot you can say. We just have to try and forget and move on as best we can.

“We have now lost 10 goals in the last two games and that’s not good enough. Against Rangers we lost four goals from corners and then we have lost three goals from freekicks. We have to think about our next game now.

“We had a few players out against Hearts who are important for us. Hopefully they will be back this week for us because Saturday is a very important game.

“We need all the players to work together if we want to stay in the Premiership. Now is not a good moment for us in terms of results but we have to come in to training on Monday, forget about this game and be positive about the next few games.

“We have to start getting some points because we are not in a good position at the moment. We have to try and stay positive though.”

Arnaud Djoum put Hearts ahead before second-half strikes from Isma Goncalves, Jamie Walker and Malaury Martin.
