Your chance to share memories of city
THE next Evening Times Thanks for the Memories Event will take place at Possilpark Library.
Adverse weather conditions forced us to cancel yesterday’s session, but it will go ahead next Tuesday instead. We would love to see readers with fond memories of growing up in the north of the city.
Please bring along any photographs, artefacts or old newspapers you have too, as we are hoping to build up a fantastic collection of reader memories.
Perhaps you remember old Possilpark, Springburn or Milton? Did you go to school in the area, or play in local parks?
Possilpark Library’s own display of old photographs is bound to prompt a few memories – its images include old shops such as ‘provisions merchant’ W McBride, Calbraith’s Stores, Marshall’s Fruit Stores, Kerr and Son Drysaltery or the Boot Repairing Depot on Bardowie Street.
There are fantastic pho- tos, too, of the electric trams at Balmore Road and an old petrol station on the corner of Saracen Street.
We will be visiting Possilpark Library on Allander Street between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Tuesday, March 28.
If you have lived in Possilpark, or nearby communities like Milton or Spring- burn, all your days or grew up there and have moved away, and have particular memories of the place and its people, we would love to hear about them.
If you can’t make it along on the day, please send your memories and photographs to ann.fotheringham@heraldandtimes. co.uk or call 0141 302 6555.
