Bomber: Pedro has goods for Gers glory

- By CHRIS JACK

JOHN BROWN insists he is confident Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has the winning mentality required to be a success at Ibrox.

The Portuguese got his Light Blues reign off to a perfect start against Hamilton last weekend as the Gers eased to a 4-0 Premiership triumph.

Caixinha will take charge for the second time when his side face Motherwell on Saturday in another must-win clash if Rangers are to keep alive their hopes of finishing ahead of Aberdeen this term.

And nine-in-a-row legend Brown reckons the 46-year-old is building on solid foundations as he settles into life at Ibrox.

He said: “He wants to succeed and he needs people round about him to tell him and let him understand about Scottish football and the way the game is played, and the feelings that are against Rangers.

“He’s very ambitious. I’m sure the knowledge he’s picked up in a number of countries, he’ll want to put that into practice here and I think he’s got that bit between the teeth that he wants to be successful.

“And if he is successful at Rangers the Rangers fans will love him forever.

“He has been working on the fitness. To be fair to Graeme Murty you’ve seen a difference in attitude with the players after he came in, and Pedro has come in there. There’s been a great reception from the Rangers fans, and he put out a team and they worked hard.

“There is a lot of work to do but it’s nice to see balls played into the strikers’ feet when they are around about the 18-yard box of the opposition and linking up.”

“It’s something we’ve not really created this season in areas that are going to hurt defenders,” Brown added.

“I think that is a plus but I thought we were better organised at the back and given time and given the resources to improve the squad going into next season, it will prove a wise decision by the club.”
