DANNY: GERS AT FULL THROTTLE FOR FINISH

- EXCLUSIVE by CHRIS JACK

DANNY WILSON insists Rangers will keep their foot to the floor this season as they attempt to make amends for a disappointing campaign at Ibrox. The Light Blues have found the going tough on their return to the top flight as a lack of consistency has cost them dear in the Premiership. Boss Pedro Caixinha has set his sights on second spot and Scottish Cup glory in the coming weeks as he assesses his options ahead of his first full season at the helm. And defender Wilson knows everyone at Ibrox has to catch the eye in the final few fixtures as the Gers look to end on a high note next month. He said: “It would be easy to say that this season is

over and done with and we will just use these games as preparation for next year. But you can’t do that at a club like Rangers and as a squad we always want to do better.

“The manager has come in and we have to impress him. There is always a pressure and expectation on you as a Rangers player.

“It is something we have to embrace and we have some big games to look forward to. It could be a good end to the season but there is a lot of hard work to be done between now and that happening.

“We are all well aware that we have underperformed this season but we are of the mind-set that it is out fault so we are the ones that have to try and put it right.

“That is what we are doing. We are trying to build on the momentum of the manager coming in and hopefully we can have a positive end to the season.”

It has been a frustrating season for Wilson as he has found himself in and out of the starting line-up at various stages of a rollercoaster campaign.

But the 25-year-old is determined to make the most of his chances to impress under the guidance of boss Caixinha.

Wilson said: “I seem to be two or three games back and then I pick up another niggle. Hopefully between now and the end of the season I can play as many games as possible.

“There have been times this season where I have been fit but due to the form of other players I haven’t been able to get in the team. Hopefully now I can get a run and show the manager what I can do.

“It is easy enough to say there is a clean slate for everybody but it doesn’t always work out that way. All I can do is try and impress the manager in training and make the most of my opportunities when I play games. Hopefully he likes what I can bring to the team.”
