‘Little will recover from skull fracture’
DAVE MACKAY expects former Rangers striker Andy Little to make a full recovery despite suffering a “horrific” fractured skull during Stirling Albion training.
The Northern Ireland internationalist was knocked unconscious this week after stooping to head a bouncing ball, only to accidentally connect with a team-mate’s knee.
Little also sustained a broken eye-socket in the incident and was immediately rushed to hospital, where his condition is now stable.
Stuart Brown, the Stirling chairman, said that “he faces a long journey to recovery”, while describing the clash as “serious and scary”.
However, Mackay is hopeful the 27-year-old, who has made five appearances since joining the Binos in February, can make a relatively swift return to the game.
“Andy is okay and should make a full recovery,” said a relieved Mackay. “Hopefully his scans come back all clear and it’s just a matter of a recovery process, which should take a couple of months or so, before he’s back to normal.
“Thankfully, it’s not as bad as it looked at the time. It was a horrific knock and he was out cold for a good few minutes, but hopefully he makes a full recovery and gets back to normal as soon as possible.”
Mackay, meanwhile, was yesterday named League 1 manager of the month for after navigating March with a 100 per cent record.
The Binos are now just four points adrift of the promotion play-off places with four games left.
