Bid for 125 new homes
PLANS have been lodged for another 125 homes as part of a multi-million pound development at the Athletes’ Village.
The homes will be built on the site of the tented village which was set up for the sporting event in 2014.
The new housing will be built in two phases with phase one made up of 49 two-storey houses for sale arranged in terraces.
A total of 76 two-storey terraces houses, which also be for sale, will make up phase two.
DETAILS have emerged of plans for a multi-million pound second phase of new homes at the Athletes’ Village.
Consortium City Legacy was responsible for the East End flats and houses which were home to 7500 athletes and officials during the Commonwealth Games.
It has now applied to the city council for detailed planning permission for a further 125 homes which will be for sale.
They will be built on the site of the tented village which was set up for the sporting event in 2014.
A report to councillors says: “The phase two development proposed will complete a key part of the wider Dalmarnock masterplan and will connect phase one of the Village back to the existing community.”
If the scheme gets the go-ahead, work could start later this year.
The site of the new development is bounded by the Clyde to the south, Sunnybank Street to the east, Baltic Street and Dalmarnock Road to the west and Springfield Road to the north.
Prior to housing the tented village for the games, the site had been used for a wide variety of different uses. That included tenements and two storey local authority and housing association properties, shops, pubs, schools, a church and a wide range of industrial buildings.

City Legacy say it is anticipated the site on the opposite side of Springfield Road to the north will in the future be developed for commercial use, possibly including l ocal shops and other amenities.
