Caixinha and his players have come under fire from all quarters in recent days as the dust has settled on the latest in a long line of poor performanc­es this season.

It has been a difficult start to life in Glasgow for the Portuguese but he is eager to build for a brighter future at Ibrox.

Caixinha told RangersTV: “Today we had, in my opinion, the most important meeting with the players regarding to the present, regarding to the future and for us to really know what it represents to defend this club and the purpose we have here working for this club.

“One of the things that brought us here early on time by the end of the season was really to assess.

“To assess on a daily basis to know close all the details from the squad, all the details from the players and all the details regarding the distance that you are from the top, all the details regarding Scottish football and all the details for you to take decisions from one season to the other.

“Our reflection­s are going in that direction. We know what we want and we know that we are going to get it because the purpose from us to be here and the board trust us to be here.

“It is about rebuilding this massive club and bringing it back to the place that it deserves.”
