West End festival line up revealed

WITH two weeks to go until this year’s West End Festival bosses are shouting about their highlights.

Organisers boast of best-selling author Jenny T Colgan coming to Glasgow for the festival.

They also say from June 5 to 8 will be Bandstand Cinema at Kelvingrov­e Bandstand with open air cinema, street food, craft beers and cocktails under the stars.

Cult classics and comedies will both be on offer.

The West End Festival will this year feature more than 400 events including Queen of Funk Chaka Khan, above, who has sold 70 million records worldwide.

This year’s festival runs from Friday, June 2 until Sunday, June 25.

Events will take place across the West End – from Oran Mor to Cottiers Theatre and Glasgow University to the Botanic Gardens.

There will be student groups and theatre groups performing, cinema, literature and food and drink.

All tastes are catered for with whisky tours entertaini­ng drink lovers and Alexander “Greek” Thomson tours keeping architectu­re fans enthralled.

Friends of Maryhill Park will be holding its annual summer fair and there will be an outdoor ceilidh at Kelvingrov­e Art Gallery and Museum.

Last year more than 400 events took place in 80 venues.
