Broony: We’ll do it like Celtic

know each other’s game, in and out, and I think that’s a good thing.

“We have the momentum and want to continue so we can get a result against England and, hopefully, we can push no from there.

“Every Celtic player in the Scotland team thrives off the big occasions. That’s why I signed for Celtic, it’s why I came back to Scotland, because I missed playing in these big games.

“I love playing for my country, I love playing for Celtic, and the bigger the game the better it is for everyone. We can show what we are made of.”

Gordon, who will begin in goal as he did at Wembley, certainly believes the national team can upset the odds and pull off what would be a win for the ages.

He said: England are a real quality international team with great players, so it will be a difficult one for us. However, if we can play the way we did in the last game and create chances, then we’ll give ourselves a chance.

“The only game that could eclipse this is qualifying for a European tournament or a World Cup. It’s a massive game and you could probably fill Hampden four or five times over for this one.

“We’ll have to enjoy it but at the same time we’ll go into it looking to get a good result. No team has a divine right to win a football match so we go in there with a chance. We know we have players that can score goals, so if we can defend well then we give ourselves a chance at the other end.”

Celtic, meanwhile, yesterday announced the club had broken the 50,000 barrier for season tickets sold for the coming 2017/18 season.
