Olly loan move talk pure Bull, say Leipzig

- By HUGO LOPEZ

RED Bull Leipzig has revealed they won’t send Scotland’s most expensive player Oliver Burke on loan next season.

But they admit the £13million ace still has “deficits” in his game.

The former Nottingham Forest winger captained Scotland to third place at the recent Toulon Tournament in France.

He was asked to join the Under 20s squad instead of featuring for Gordon Strachan’s side against England.

There’s been speculation the Bundesliga runners-up will send Burke back to English football next season to get him some game time, after starting just five matches for RB Leipzig this season and finishing none of them.

But Red Bull boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has faith in Burke. He said: “He is a player with obvious qualities, but he has some deficits.

“He’s not been able to show his main strength – which is his speed when he sprints with the ball – because he’s not had as many opportunities as he would have liked.

“He’s not yet showed what he was bought for, but we certainly have not yet given up hope.

“I believe he will show his qualities. It’s logical he will take some time to adjust. But a loan or sale is out of the question.”

cottish Cup final referee Bobby Madden has been selected to oversee matches at this summer’s European Under-21 Championships in Poland.

The 38-year-old is one of nine referees who will officiate at the tournament, which takes place from June 16 to 30.

Madden was the fourth official in last Friday’s World Cup qualifier between Belgium and Estonia, which was refereed by countryman John Beaton.
