Pedro wants wide boys to give it more aggro on the flanks to bolster frontline

PEDRO CAIXINHA insists Rangers will be more aggressive in the final third next season as he continues to bolster his Ibrox attack.

The Light Blues boss has added Portuguese forward pair Dalcio and Daniel Candeias to his ranks already this summer.

And Columbian kid Alfredo Morelos is also set to complete his switch to Glasgow as the countdown continues to the new campaign.

A lack of firepower cost Rangers dear on several occasions last term as they finished their first season back in the Premiership in third spot and missed out on League Cup and Scottish Cup glory.

Dalcio has agreed a seasonlong loan switch from Benfica and Candeias has put pen-topaper on a two-year deal after leaving the Primeira Liga champions.

And boss Caixinha is confident the Light Blue legions will see a far different attacking approach from his side in the comingg months. He said: “I think we need more width in the last third, and we need more aggression in that part of the pitch.

“We need to be more aggressive attacking full-backs, attacking spaces, having associations with the strikers and putting more crosses in. That is what we are looking to have in our attacking side.

“Football goes beyond tactics and technique. Football is all about human relations and whe when you can get the human rela relations right and you know you can count on them, everything becomes easier.

“I think the major job I am going to have is to convince the players they are human and they need to work as a unit. It is much easier for me to have guys who already know the message to spread the message.”

The capture of Candeias on Sunday was the latest move of a productive summer for Rangers as Caixinha clinched his fifth signing of the close season.

Defenders Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso and midfielder Ryan Jack have also agreed moves to Ibrox, while the swoops for Morelos and Mexican duo Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera are set to be completed in the coming days.

Caixinha is pleased with the work he has been able to complete as he has kickstarted his Gers rebuilding job.

He told RangersTV: “It has been a busy week for everyone. We are delighted with the signings as all of them are our first options, and it’s very good things are going like that.

“Daniel is a fantastic guy and a great player. He is someone who I had the pleasure of working with four or five years ago, and he is a winger who can perform on the right and on the left.

“He is also very skilful on the set-pieces like corners and wide free-kicks, and he is someone who really sacrifices to help the team all the time, both in attack and defence, and I believe he is going to help us to have strong play particularly in the wide areas.”
