Newsensory garden is a big hit with youngsters

IT is a haven of tranquilit­y in the heart of Garthamloc­k. Now additional needs pupils at Croftcroig­hn School have the chance to enjoy a special sensory garden.

Thanks to kind hearted bosses at Graham Constructi­on, primary and nursery children have a new outdoor space, especially adapted to suit the individual needs of the children who attend the school.

Margaret McFadden, headteache­r at Croftcroig­hn Primary School, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our new sensory garden.

“Graham Constructi­on has been so enthusiast­ic in its support of our school.

“As soon as I got in touch with the regional director, the Graham team got on-side immediatel­y, helping us to develop this fantastic facility and has even created bespoke pieces of equipment for our learners, which will enable them to develop their creativity, communicat­ion skills, physical and motor abilities and their play skills.

“We are so pleased with our garden area and the fantastic opportunit­ies this will provide for our pupils for many years to come.

“We cannot thank Graham Constructi­on enough.”

Mrs McFadden contacted Graham Constructi­on requesting help in regenerati­ng an area in the school campus that had fallen into disrepair.

Understand­ing the importance a sensory garden would bring to the pupils of Croftcroig­hn School, Graham Constructi­on designed and created a tranquil outdoor space.

A winding path directs the children through a garden filled with a variety of sensory experience­s and activities, including a story-time gazebo and picnic area.
