SCALES OF JUSTICE Rangers fan in match ban after pitch invasion
A FOOTBALL fan has been banned from attending any matches for a year after taking part in a pitch invasion.
Stewart Kerr, was one of hundreds of spectators who took part in a pitch invasion at the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on May 20 last year.
The 29-year-old was seen on CCTV leaving the Rangers side of the stadfootage ium and entering the field of play, after the final whistle in the game against Hibernian.
Kerr, of Hillview, Airdrie, gestured towards supporters and raised his arms while standing in the 18-yard box.
He was told to move off the pitch by one of the police officers who was dealing with the disturbance.
Kerr eventually handed himself in to police eight-months after the match following a high profile investigation.
He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to behaving in a way likely to incite public disorder by entering a field of play and gestic- ulating at opposition supporters.
His defence agent told the court that the accused had attended Rangers football matches since he was a young boy and had not been in any trouble.
Sheriff Cameron ordered Kerr to undergo 200 hours of unpaid work within nine months.
Kerr will be subject to a Football Banning Order for 12 months.
