PUPILS ended their school term on a high as watchdogs returned a top class report card.

Youngsters from St Albert’s Primary in Glasgow were celebrating as Education Scotland praised the school for its leadership and the care staff show for the wellbeing of children.

The school was placed under the microscope earlier this year and inspectors returned three “very good” grades and one “excellent”.

Pupil Abdullah Sher, 12, said: “I feel proud that I go to St Albert’s Primary because it has given me loads of opportunities like meeting international visitors, winning awards and being involved it social enterprise.

“It is brilliant the inspectors could see how amazing we are.”

The school earned its “excellent” grade for “leadership of change”.

And it was marked “very good” for learning, teaching and assessment; raising attainment and achievement; and ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion.

Inspectors said: “Children are enthusiastic about their learning, and they are happy and proud of their school.”

They also praised: “The care and concern which all staff show for the wellbeing and success of the children.

“Outcomes for children and their families are improving as a result of the approaches to inclusion and rights which ensure the wellbeing of all.

“The school celebrates its rich community and demonstrates respect for all faiths and cultures.

“Children across the school demonstrate a very positive concern for the wellbeing of others.”

Tylor Fraser, 10, added: “I am really impressed that we got an excellent inspection in the same week that we got our fourth green flag.

“I am proud of that and of being a pupil in St Albert’s Primary School.”

Head teacher Clare Harker said: “I am grateful to the inspec- tors and the inspection process for validating all the hard work and dedication from staff, pupils and parents.

“We are a vibrant, creative school that puts Gospel values and children’s rights at the heart of all of our learning.

“All of our staff are particularly delighted that their leadership has been recognised in this report as an excellent example of our profession at its best.”
