there can’t see. So far, I have enjoyed playing alongside Niko and hopefully he can help my career. He has obviously had great experiences in his career so far and I am sure any sort of advice he can pass on, of course I would be willing to listen.

“He is a man I have got great respect for and he has had a great career. I thought he was excellent and hopefully that continues.”

It was Kranjcar that helped Rangers break the deadlock at Ibrox as his quick free-kick sent Kenny Miller free to score the only goal of the game.

The Gers were comfortable throughout the first leg clash and Jack was pleased to get off and running with a win. He said: “We knew they were going to come and sit in and make it difficult for us. There are lots of things we want to improve on but it is still early stages of pre-season.

“We are still trying to get everyone together and gel properly. I think there is still more to come from us and we will look to step it up next week again.”

A second goal may have eluded Rangers on their return to the European scene but they remain on course to set up a meeting with AEL Limassol.

Jack reckons there is plenty more to come from the Light Blues. He said: “We set out to win the game and we won the game. We would have liked to have won 3-0 or 4-0, as you would in every game.

“It wasn’t to be but we still won the match. We will be looking to step it up next week again.

“For a lot of the boys, it was their first 90 minutes that they have had. We are still getting up to speed.”
