Ped happy with Ibrox debutants

- By CHRIS JACK

PEDRO CAIXINHA reckons his new Rangers recruits will benefit from their first taste of Ibrox in Thursday’s 1-0 win over Progres Niederkorn.

The Portuguese has signed eight players this summer and three of them – defender Fabio Cardoso, midfielder Ryan Jack and forward Dalcio – started for the Europa League first qualifying round clash.

Winger Daniel Candeias and striker Alfredo Morelos were then given second-half stints following their arrivals in Glasgow in recent days.

Caixinha was satisfied with the showing from his side in front of a sold-out Ibrox crowd after a short summer break. He said: “I’m happy with the team. Now they have already felt what it means to play for Rangers, they have already felt what it means to play in Ibrox, totally sold out and totally dedicated to supporting the team.

“There are some of them that I need to have that one v one a little bit more to relax them and make them understand what the crowd is expecting from them.

“Sometimes it’s not a question of commit the mistake, but it’s more a question of being switched on all the time in the game.

“That’s what we are also looking for and that is something that is for us non-negotiable. I mean the focus, the attitude and the commitment needs to be all the time present.

“The mistakes are part of the human condition, so that’s what we are trying to get on the players in order for them to understand how massive this club is and the way you need to perform.”
