Summer clubnow all set thanks to
DOZENS of Glasgow kids are set to have a fun-filled summer thanks to a foodbank and support from the Evening Times.
To help families throughout the summer months, we teamed up to support Glasgow North West foodbank.
This year, the service will run its first ever summer holiday club which will treat kids to a range of activities they may not be able to afford.
It means parents who may struggle to put food on the table and keep their little ones entertained during the six-week long break will have a free, safe and fun outlet to go to twice a week.
Foodbank manager Kyle McCormick hopes the service will help parents spread out their cash and give them support before they reach “crisis point”.
Schools were given letters to pass on to parents whose children receive free school meals during term time, to encourage them to sign up to the club.
Dozens have now taken up the foodbank’s offer and will start the summer club today.
To help them along, we donated dozens of pieces of outdoor sports gear, including footballs and hula hoops, as well as indoor active toys.
For kids who may be less sporty, we provided the foodbank with pens, pencils, paints and paper to allow kids to try out their creative talent.
Kyle said: “The items from the Evening Times will be a fantastic addition to the foodbank, and we thank you very much for helping us out.
“It means we have a good range of outdoor and indoor things for the kids to do, so we can have fun in all weathers.
“We also hope that kids and their parents can do a lot of the activities together, allowing them to spend some quality time over the holidays in a relaxed environment, where they don’t have to worry.”
Along with activities, kids and parents will be provided with food to keep them going throughout the day.
