REALITY funnyman James English has sensationally quit hit series Glow to pursue a career in comedy.

The star, from Possilpark, called it quits with producers this week to focus on his rising career on the comedy circuit.

James, 33, starred in the internet-based GRTV series for two seasons and has become a fan favourite but he admits that the drama became too much.

The former personal trainer, who is the second star to quit the show after Kilsyth nurse Stephanie Rankin, exclusively told The Evening Times: “Glow was a stepping stone. I have learned so much working in front of the cameras and with other people. My confidence has definitely improved.

“I am grateful for the show because I would not have had the opportunities I have had.

“It has opened up so many doors for me but that’s me officially out of the show.”

He added: “I want to concentrate on my comedy. I wish everyone all the best and I am thankful for the opportunity.”

James become embroiled in one of last season’s main storylines which brought about conflict with co-stars Rudi Neequaye and Lauren MacDonald.

He is keen to leave that drama behind to focus on the comedy especially with one stand-up show under his belt. He made his debut in Inverness last week and he has more shows in the pipeline which is the main reason leaving the show.
