Crooks moved for an undisclose­d fee, with Northampto­n boss Edinburgh adding: “We are thrilled to have secured Matt.

“He has played at this level and was one of the best players coming out o of League 2 when he w went to Rangers.

“We feel he has the potential to get even better and believe he is a top signing for us.”

Back in Glasgow, Danny Wilson has spoken of his delight at getting back to playing games after being out for a almost three months due to a knee ligament injury.

The 25-year-old centre-half got 45 minutes under his belt in Rangers’ 1-0 closedoor defeat to St Johnstone yesterday.

He told RangersTV: “I have obviously missed a few games so I am just playing catch-up now in terms of fitness.

“I spoke to the manager at the end of last season and he said he was going to bring some players in.

“The new boys have come in and we expect there to be even more competitio­n for places this season.

“I just need to focus on getting myself fit and giving myself the best opportunit­y to get back in the team.”

ilmarnock have signed former Rangers and Ross County winger Chris Burke on a one-year deal.

Burke, 33, played as a trialist during Killie’s pre-season win over Livingston and had been training with the club.

“Chris had options so I’m thrilled that he will be a Kilmarnock player for the upcoming season,” said manager Lee McCulloch.
