Woman admits station tirade and assault
A WOMAN was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court after assaulting another woman she called ‘gorgeous’.
Kelly Murphy appeared in the dock for assaulting the woman she was initially complimenting as she walked towards Glasgow Central Station.
The court heard that the complainer was walking toward the train station when she heard the 30-year-old accused shouting “you’re gorgeous”.
However, an argument then took place between the complainer and a co-accused Murphy was with at the time.
After an exchange of words the argument then caused Murphy to say to the complainer: “I just said you look f***ing pretty.”
She then made a transphobic remark after asking why the complainer was talking to “her man” like that.
Murphy then punched the woman to the side of the face.
The incident was then reported to the police where officers used CCTV to identify the accused, where she was later cautioned and charged.
Murphy, of Glenavon Road, Maryhill, admitted that on May 12, 2017 at Glasgow Central Station she act- ed in a threatening manner by shouting, swearing and uttering abusive, offensive, homophobic and transphobic remarks.
She also admitted punching a woman on the head.
Murphy’s defending solicitor said a co-accused, who was with his client, started to become abusive towards the complainer after she had made the complimentary remark.
Murphy became violent after the complainer responded to the abusive remarks made to her.
She was placed on 12 months supervision with a review set for October 19 this year to track her progress.
