-

A THUG was ordered to carry out unpaid work after he assaulted a school pupil.

Scott Douglas was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court for two separate matters which included assaulting a 15-year-old boy and carrying an offensive weapon.

The court heard that the 21-year-old had chased two school children in Crookston Road and grabbed one of them by the collar and shouted: “What are you laughing at?”

Douglas admitted that on May 31 last year at Crookston Road he assaulted the boy by seizing him by the neck.

He also admitted acting aggressively by shouting and swearing at two school pupils.

In another incident Douglas, of Hollybush Road, Cardonald, was on a street at 7am with a weapon.

When police arrived on the scene, after receiving a call, they saw the accused with a baseball bat with a silver chain wrapped around it.

Officers asked him to drop the object and he was then cautioned and charged.

He admitted that on July 2, 2017 at Maybole Street, Nitshill, he acted in a threatening manner by shouting swearing and waving a bat around.

He further admitted that he was in possession of an offensive weapon.

He was ordered to carry out 290 hours of unpaid work as part of a Community Payback Order.
