Dinos prove a monster draw

-

GLASWEGIANS are going dino-crazy for a ‘pre-historic’ exhibition which has sold in excess of 30,000 tickets– weeks before it is due to arrive.

Briefs for the Jurassic Kingdom tour have even sold out for the first day on August 26, with organisers expecting at least 50,000 visitors during the exhibition’s run.

The exhibition will come to Glasgow Botanic Gardens next month and feature 30 life-size prehistoric creatures.

The tour comes to the city for the first time and anyone attending will be transported back more than 65 million years where they will come face to face with a fearsome T-Rex, watch the Deinonychus and Tenontosau- rus do battle or meet the gentle but most definitely giant 16-metre long Diplodocus.

Naz Kabir, tour organisers Weli Creative’s event and marketing director, said: “This is the first time we have brought the Jurassic Kingdom tour to Scotland and the response has been overwhelming – Glasgow clearly loves dinosaurs.

“Jurassic Kingdom is about bringing to life one of the biggest mysteries of history, the dinosaurs, and with fun, adventure, excitement and education thrown in, the tour offers something for all.

“In addition to individuals and families, we look forward to welcoming a great number of school and nursery groups, and we would encourage anyone wishing to attend to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

The dinosaurs on the tour come with snarling jaws, moving eyes, swaying tails and roaring sound effects to make for an exhilarating experience.

Visitors will follow the trail around the leafy Botanics and encounter the giant dinosaurs as part of a walk- ing tour which lasts around 60 minutes.

Other activities include an excavation scene where younger children can get hands on and dig to unearth a T-Rex fossil, immersive virtual reality headsets offering a range of digital dinosaur experiences and plenty of photo opportunities for those all-important Spinosaurus selfies.

The event runs from August 26 until September 10 daily from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5pm. Tickets are on sale at www.jurassickingdom.uk
