Man in court on paintball spree charges

-

A MAN has appeared in court on a string of charges including shooting members of the public with a paintball gun across central Scotland.

Anthony Rasmussen, 23, allegedly assaulted 11 people on June 23 at various streets in Glasgow, Bearsden, Drymen and Clydebank.

One charge alleges Rasmussen struck a man on the body with “the contents of a paintball gun or similar, to his injury”.

Another claims he did “repeatedly shoot” a man “on the body with a paintball gun to his injury”.

One charge alleges that he shot a woman on the head “with a paintball gun to her injury”.

Rasmussen, from Clydebank, appeared from custody in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday to face 17 charges.

He made no plea when he was represented by Peter Malone and was released on bail by sheriff Shona Gilroy.

Papers from the court claim Rasmussen “culpably and recklessly” discharged a paintball gun on four occasions on June 23 at areas in Glasgow, Carbeth, Milngavie.

Three of those charges allege this was done while in a moving vehicle, to the dan- ger of those around.

Rasmussen is also accused resetting an Audi car on Greendyke Street, Glasgow on the same date.

And, that between June 22 and 23 at Curle Street, Whiteinch, he stole number plates.

Many of the charges claim that Rasmussen was acting with another, or others at the time.

He is expected to appear at court at a later date.
