SCALES OF JUSTICE Rangers fan tagged after punching rival

-

A RANGERS fan who attacked another supporter and was caught with pyrotechnics in his jacket has been tagged.

Marc Cumming carried out the offences in Ibrox Stadium on December 3 last year, during a match between Rangers and Aberdeen.

The 19-year-old was seen by mounted police officers becoming involved in a disturbance between fans. During the brawl, Cumming, of Drumlanrig Avenue in Easterhouse, punched an Aberdeen fan on the body.

Police officers then broke up the fight and carried out a search of those involved which revealed that Cumming had nine fireworks in his jacket pocket.

Cumming appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to assaulting the supporter and being in possession of fireworks in a designated sports ground.

His defence agent told the court that his client is currently already subject to a Football Banning Order for another offence.

He added that the 19-year-old had made a “spectacularly stupid” decision on the day of the incident by becoming involved in the altercation and for purchasing the pyrotechnics, which Cumming had forgotten were i n his possession.

Sheriff Findlay placed Cumming on a tag for a period of eight months.

In addition, he will be subject to a football banning order for a period of five years.
