- By DAVID KELSO

GLASGOW have stepped up their summer spending spree by finalising the swoop on Tongan tough guy Siua Halanukonuka.

The Test prop will link up with the Warriors in October after his commitments with New Zealand side Tasman Makos.

Prop Halanukonuka, who has clinched a twoyear deal at Scotstoun, has also starred for the Highlanders in Super Rugby and figured for them off the bench as they beat the Lions in Dunedin last month.

The specialist tighthead (inset) said: “I’m really excited to be coming to Scotland with my family.

“Warriors are a team aiming for titles and big things. “I’ve heard all about their loyal fans and the great club atmosphere. “I am looking forward to being a part of this.” Glasgow assistant coach Jonathan Humphreys added: “Siua comes with a lot of experience, hav ing played regularly in Super Rugby over the past two seasons.

“He will be a great addition to our squad and will add to the competition at tighthead.”

Halanukonuka made his debut for Tonga in 2014 in a 23-9 win over Georgia.

He has since gone on to win six caps and featured in their famous 19-17 victory over Italy in November 2016.

Halanukonuka also has experience of European rugby, having made 10 appearances for French side Narbonne.

He becomes the 10th new player to join Glasgow ahead of the new season, with Huw Jones, Callum Gibbins, Oli Kebble, Adam Hastings, Lelia Masaga, Samuela Vunisa, Kiran McDonald, Brandon Thomson and George Turner already signed up.
