Womeninlegal action move over treatment claims

- By STACEY MULLEN

WOMEN who say they received botched cosmetic procedures at a Glasgow salon are now seeking legal action.

Thompson’s Solicitors confirmed it has began civil proceedings for one client and is in consultation with several other women who say they experienced problems with treatments at the Dash salon in Partick.

The latest move comes after the Evening Times previously reported on the treatments handled by Alison McQuade.

She is alleged to have fraudulently claimed she was a nurse to attend a training course in injectable facial treatments including botox, which is aimed at health professionals.

A number of women say they have experienced problems after treatments administered by Ms McQuade and were given unsafe advice.

One woman said she was treated in hospital for an infection after receiving too-much botox in her eyebrows lift.

Patrick McGuire, a partner with Thompsons, is now acting on behalf of some of the women.

Though the claims would have to be proved in court unless settled, Mr McGuire said: “Everything we have been told about this and what has been reported in the Evening Times through your investigations shows that this is an absolutely black and white case.

“We will therefore be immediately launching a claim on behalf of our client.”

He added: “We would expect everything to be done properly and quickly but of course this par- ticular individual seems to have done nothing properly.

“Who knows what bumps there may be in the road ahead. Does she have insurance? We don’t know. Can we track her down? We don’t know.

“No stone will be left unturned, and the law is certainly on the side of our current client and anyone else who may come forward.”

Mr McGuire, who has practised the law for 20 years, has handled some similar high profile cases which he has won including the PIP breast implant scandal.

He said: “Legally this case is solid. From everything we have seen, it is clear there has been a breach of several regulations and rules of law that will entitle anyone who suffered damage at the hands of this woman to be entitled compensation.”

He added: “Anyone who has been effected, I would encourage them not to suffer in silence.

“In civil law, there is strength in numbers so the more people who come forward the stronger the case will be.”
