Pair rob victim at city ATM

-

TWO bold thieves worked as a tag-team to rob a man while he was taking cash out of an ATM in Glasgow city centre.

The daylight robbery occurred at the Royal Bank of Scotland ATM at Royal Bank Place near Royal Exchange Square at around 2.40pm on Saturday.

Detectives investigating the incident say the 31-year-old victim was at the ATM when he was approached by two men.

As the man’s cash was being dispensed, one of the men snatched it and the other man grabbed the victim, knocking him to the ground.

Following the incident, the suspects made off towards Buchanan Street.

The victim did not require medical treatment.

Inquiries carried out so far have revealed that several members of the public came to the man’s aid.

Officers are appealing for these people to contact them as they may have information which could be vital to the investigation. The suspects are described as white, in their late 20s to early 30s. Both had gaunt appearances and spoke with local accents.

Officers continue to review CCTV footage from in and around the area for any additional information on the suspects.

Constable Margaret Blacker said: “The city centre would have been busy with shoppers on a Saturday afternoon and I’m appealing for people to come forward with any information.”
