Hunt continues for teen robber

- By STACEY MULLEN

Crime Reporter COPS hunting a cruel robber who locked a 90-year-old woman in the bathroom after raiding her property for money say they need the public’s help to catch him.

The crook remains at large more than a week after the incident happened and officers believe information provided by the community in Summerston is key to catching him.

We previously told how the thief, who is described as a teenager, pounced on his victim at her home in Milovaig Street.

Cops say that he gained access to the common close area of the woman’s home at around 6.30pm on Monday, August 7.

He then forced his way into his victim’s flat where he locked her in the bathroom.

He fled the scene after stealing her purse containing a three-figure sum of cash and bank cards.

Police Scotland said that the elderly lady was checked over by medical staff and did not sustain any injuries.

She was, however, left badly shaken and upset by the ordeal.

Police Scotland told the Evening Times yesterday that the investigation into the incident continues. They appealed directly to the public to come forward with information.

The suspect they want to track down is described as around 16-years-old.

He is approximately 5ft 1ins in height, with a slim build and acne on his cheeks. He was wearing a black woolly hat and a black coloured tracksuit.

Anyone with information is to call Maryhill Police via 101, quoting reference number 1370 of August 17, 2017.
