Mum claims First Bus workers made threats
THE mother of a four-year-old girl who was injured during an alleged incident on a First Bus claims she has been sent abusive messages from its employees.
Amy McCallum, 28, claims her daughter Victoria Rose Aiton was left with a bloodied face after falling when a bus door caught her ankle.
As reported by the Evening Times, the mum-of-three became involved in a verbal exchange with the driver of a number eight First Bus when he refused her a child ticket.
Amy, from Riddrie, posted about the incident on social media and was shocked to receive a string of threatening comments from people she believes are First Bus employees.
She said: “I’ve been getting comments from their employees saying that they’re going to ‘find me’, ‘kick f*** out me’ and ‘hunt down where I live’.
“I can see on their profile that they’re employed by the company. I gave four names to head office, who confirmed that they were employees.”
The mum also rubbished claims from the firm that there is no CCTV footage of the incident.
A statement released by First Bus stated that following a detailed examination of on-board CCTV footage and an interview with the driver, the bus company has found no evidence to support the allegations relating to the injury of the schoolgirl.
She added: “Of course they’re going to say that because they want to protect their workers. I can get that. At the end of the day, I know what happened. It’s the big man versus the wee man.”
A First Bus spokesman con- firmed that they are aware of one ex-employee posting abusive comments.
He said: “We have been in constant communication with the complainer. We have a strict social media policy and we are taking action regarding the situation. First Glasgow launched an immediate investigation into allegations from a customer that her four-year-old child was injured alighting from one of our Service 8 vehicles at Riddrie on Tuesday afternoon. These allegations were made on social media and to newspapers, in addition to a formal complaint received by our customer services team.
“Following detailed examination of on-board CCTV footage and an interview with the driver, we have established that there is no evidence to support the allegations relating to the injury of the child.”
