SCALES OF JUSTICE Roofer pays for offensive party remarks
A ROOFER has been fined after subjecting two women to a humiliating ordeal.
John Aitken, attended a house on Kirkhill Grove in Cambuslang on July 16, last year, where there was a party going on.
The 26-year-old began making comments about kissing one of two female witnesses in the house.
The woman made it clear that she was not interested in Aitken, of Kings Avenue in Cambuslang, and that she was in a relationship with the second witness.
Aitken approached the second witness and made comments that they believed were related to rape.
Both witnesses felt uncomfortable but Aitken continued to make comments to the women, calling them “butch militant lesbians” and stating that one of the women looked like a male.
Aitken went on to make a “humping motion” towards one of the witnesses’ legs and she later contacted police.
Aitken appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing.
His defence agent that the accused was intoxicated at the time and thought he was having “banter”.
Sheriff Cameron warned Aitken that he faced being placed on the Sex Offenders Register due to his behaviour.
He fined him £450, £100 of which was attributed to the sexual orientation aggravation.
