Man smashes ankle tag and takes it to police station

-

A MAN smashed up his tag – and then took it to his local police station.

Alan Butchart was on a restriction of liberty order, which meant he had to wear an ankle tag keeping him at his home overnight.

But on July 28 this year he trashed the device before taking it to Maryhill Police Office where he shouted at cops.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the 22-year-old told police: “F**k off, don’t you put your f**king hands on me.”

When asked to sit down, he told them: “You take a seat.”

On a separate charge, the 22-year-old also kicked off on the night of August 22 this year.

Police were called to Glenkirk Drive in Drumchapel where Butchart was found drunk and standing on the pavement.

He told police: “F**k off and leave me alone.”

Butchart, from Drum- chapel, then kicked the male police officer on his body.

He also spat at a female police officer before being put in a police vehicle and taken to Clydebank Police Office.

During the journey, Butchart continued to act in a threatening manner, shouting and swearing. In his defence, Butchart’s lawyer said his memory of the evening was “somewhat scarce” as he had been drinking heavily.

The lawyer said Butchart had an argument with his father, who told him to go and calm down, and that had been the catalyst for him kicking off. Sentencing, Sheriff Lindsay Wood gave Butchart a total of 12 months in prison: four months for his original offence, two for breaching bail, two for the incident at Maryhill police station and four for the incident in Drumchapel.
