Car torched in ‘terrifying’ firebugattack
A LUXURY car was torched in a deliberate and “terrifying” attack by firebugs.
The black Mercedes was set alight early yesterday morning.
Around 4.45am the emergency services were called to Colston Road in Bishopbriggs when they received reports of a fire.
They found the vehicle, which was extensively damaged as a result.
After a police and fire probe, the incident is now being treated as deliberate and a public appeal has been made for witnesses.
The car owners have been left “absolutely terrified”, according to police, who are now scouring CCTV in a bid to catch the culprits.
Detective Constable Martin Smith, from Maryhill CID, said: “A family have been left absolutely terrified following this reckless and dangerous act and extensive inquiries are under way to find out who is responsible.
“Officers are currently reviewing CCTV and conducting door-to-door inquiries and I would appeal to anyone who was in the surrounding area this morning, who may have seen anything suspicious, to get in touch.”
