Dembele in frame to take on Paris

important thing is we can’t risk it. Of course everyone would love to be involved in the Paris game, but if not then he is not going to be too far away from that and then he is still going to have an impact for the remainder of the Champions League campaign which is great news.

“But we have to be sure that he is right if he has any involvement in the game on Tuesday.”

However, while Celtic’s striking issues are almost resolved, there remains a defensive issue for the game against PSG.

Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko remain injured, although both are expected to resume training on Sunday.

It leaves Jozo Simunovic as the only fit and natural central defender to partner either Mikael Lustig, Nir Bitton or Kristoffer Ajer.

Simunovic will play tonight against Hamilton in order to get game time after he didn’t feature for Bosnia on international duty, and despite the lack of depth at the back ahead of a game against the world’s most expensive forward line, Rodgers has insisted he will not approach the game against PSG with apprehension.

“Jozo is fit, Mikael Lustig can move inside and Tony Ralston is there with young Ajer,” he said. “That is what we are having to plan and map out. I wouldn’t say we are depleted but we are having to adjust for the first game.”

Meanwhile, Odsonne Edouard could be set to make his Celtic debut this evening against Hamilton Accies.

Leigh Griffiths will not feature after taking a kick to his calf while on international duty meaning that Edouard could make his first appearance since signing for the club on transfer deadline day on a season long loan from PSG.

“He’ll be in the squad, that’s for sure,” said Brendan Rodgers. “That’s the reason for bringing him in. And he has been playing and training, so he’s up to speed. It’s not as if he hasn’t been playing. So he’s available.

“He is a big talent. He’s got that modern asset of pace and power. He’s still young, so he’s got a lot to learn, but what a great place for him to come and learn.”
