Cops hunt for spray can yobs

VANDALS using black spray paint have targeted a number of cars and properties.

Police are now investigat­ing the incidents which happened in the Giffnock and Clarkston areas.

Black spray paint was used on cars and properties between Wednesday, August 30 and Monday, September 4.

A Subway sandwich shop on Fenwick Road, Giffnock was targeted with graffiti sometime between 8pm on Wednesday, August 30 and 7.30am the next day.

A flat in Kennedy Court, Braidholm Road, Giffnock was then sprayed with paint on Thursday, August 31.

A further three incidents were reported to police. These are believed to have occurred between Saturday, September 2 and Monday, September 4. Two vehicles and a bin were spray painted with graffiti in Monteith Drive, Clarkston between 5.30pm on Saturday, September 2 and 6.30am the next day.

A car i n Stamperlan­d Gardens was also targeted and vandalised with some items stolen from within the vehicle.

The third incident occurred in a children’s play area and pavilion in Overlee Park, Clarkston which has been badly vandalised and suffered significan­t damage. Black paint was used in all three incidents.

Officers are in the process of gathering and reviewing any relevant CCTV footage for any additional informatio­n on these incidents.

Sergeant Edward McLemon said: “At this stage we do not know who is responsibl­e for these wanton acts of vandalism, however it’s clear they have a flagrant disregard for other people’s property.

“I am appealing to people in the local community who may have informatio­n regarding these incidents or any knowledge as to who is responsibl­e, to contact us.

“Perhaps you know someone who has had black paint on their clothes or hands recently. Any informatio­n could prove vital in our ongoing enquiries into these incidents.”

Additional patrols are being stepped up in the areas affected and anyone with any concerns should approach these officers.
