-

A SERIES of events has been planned in the city to raise awareness of climate change.

The Scottish Government’s Climate Week campaign hopes to encourage organisations across Scotland to host events to highlight the importance of reducing emissions and adapting to rising temperatures.

The city council is inviting the public to join in a range of activities aimed at encouraging them to reduce their carbon footprint and cut food costs.

This year Climate Week runs from September 18 to 22 and is centred on waste, energy, water, green travel and recycling.

Events will take place at the Winter Gardens in Glasgow Green and there will be advice and demonstrations from Home Energy Scotland, Zero Waste Scotland, Love Food Hate Waste and Transport Scotland.

One of the highlights of the week includes dining in a dumpster, i ntended to encourage behaviour change around food waste.

And Zero Waste Scotland will be encouraging visitors to make their own fruit smoothies by using pedal power.

Bricks4Kidz Lego demonstrations and workshops will be on offer.

Visitors to the Winter Gardens will also have the chance to test their driving skills with a fuel efficient driving stimulator – an arcade-style driving experience which shows how to drive more fuel efficiently.
