Charity store is out of stock

-

A CHARITY furniture store has become a victim of its own success and now needs new donations.

Ardgowan Hospice bosses say the shop in Carnock Street is cleared out after a bumper two weeks of sales.

Staff are now struggling to replenish stock and are sending out an urgent SOS for donations.

Stuart Murray, warehouse supervisor, said: “We’ve had a very busy two to three weeks and now we can’t keep up with the demand. River Clyde Homes are decanting residents from Eastern View and came in and asked for 22 suites and 30 dining sets.

“It’s been very good for us and we are really pleased that we could help out, but this volume of stock is hard to replace.”

Stuart says he is looking for high-value items such as good quality suites, white goods and beds. He said: “In a way we are a victim of our own success.

“Last week we had customers coming in and we didn’t have the stock to sell them.”

The store is arranged room by room to give people an overall picture and sells everything from suites, beds, tables and chairs to coffee tables, wardrobes and lamps.

The shop has also received ex-show house stock from Merchant Homes which is building properties in Gourock’s Kirn Drive.

Stuart has worked at the shop since 2009 and says it has generated millions of pounds for the hospice since that time.
