Family fun and games lined up at city parks

-

PARKS across Glasgow will be coming to life with free activities this week.

More than 13 parks and green spaces across the city, including Kelvingrove Park and Victoria Park will be hosting activities as part of the ParkLives sessions.

Ranging from Tai Chi and power walking, to basketball and bowls, the programme includes free events to bring communities together and improve wellbeing.

The festival will be delivered by teams from Glasgow Life in partnership with Coca-Cola Great Britain.

Communities within the city have helped devise the programme which includes a range of fun family activities, which last for around an hour.

Activities will be running throughout this week, until Sunday.

Stephanie Greenhorn, ParkLives Programme Manager at Glasgow Life, said: “Thousands of local residents will benefit from ParkLives again this year. It’s a great opportunity for people to enjoy their local parks.

“Whether that’s learning some new archery skills, enjoying a family frisbee session, or trying your hand at den building – there’s truly something for everyone.

“ParkLives is great fun, we see a lot of friendship groups forming and plenty of smiling faces after each session, but it also plays a serious role in helping to improve the wellbeing of people in our city.

“In 2016, we had more than 7000 attendances in ParkLives sessions, with many of those taking part living in some of the city’s most deprived areas.”

Session leader, Carol Ramsey from Glasgow, added: “The great thing about ParkLives is that it encourages people to take advantage of the beautiful parks and green spaces our city has to offer.”
