Finnieston crane’s tour of capital
THE FINNIESTON crane is to tour around Edinburgh, plastered on the side of a tram.
For the next two tears, home improvements firm CR Smith will wrap Edinburgh trams with artwork featuring iconic and picturesque scenes from across the country.
The Glasgow landmark will be among those featured, appearing in a design alongside a common crane, famous in Fraserburgh, with the caption ‘From Fraserburgh to Finnieston’.
CR Smith wanted a campaign that would bring a smile to people’s faces, puzzle others and resonate with the whole of Scotland – and it believes the Finnieston Crane does exactly that.
As well as appearing on the capital’s tram network, the vivid images will appear on CR Smith’s fleet of 50 new Mercedes vans and in a planned television campaign later this year.
Gerard Eadie CBE, executive chairman of CR Smith said: “The Finnieston Crane is a fantastic image and we are delighted to feature it in our campaign. It makes people smile. And if it helps to raise awareness of Glasgow’s engineering heritage even better.
“So far, our images take in Troon, Edinburgh, Dunblane, St Andrews, Lossiemouth and Glasgow and the plan is to continue to develop the campaign with new images from around Scotland.”
Over 5.6m people travel on the tram network each year.
