Doc says Hamilton need to wise up
GREG DOCHERTY admits Hamilton need to learn the lessons from their loss to Rangers if they are to get back on track in the Premiership.
Accies crashed to a 4-1 defeat on Friday night as Pedro Caixinha’s side ran out comfortable winners at the SuperSeal Stadium.
The hosts were ahead inside the opening minute as Danny Redmond converted after Rakish Bingham was denied by Wes Foderingham.
But a double from Declan John and a Daniel Candeias strike put the Gers in control before Graham Dorrans clinched the points with a second-half penalty.
Docherty said: “It’s a massive disappointment. We really let ourselves down. After going ahead, for some reason we sat back instead of building momentum.
“It’s something we talk about, so even more frustrating when it’s happened, and we’ve not done that. It’s not like us.
“It’s four games on the trot we’ve lost which is not good enough. It’s relegation form, and we’re better than that, and to perform like that and the way we have over the past few weeks is not good enough.
“We had a 15-minute spell where we seemed to be all over the place. There was a lack of communication from everywhere. Rangers hit us on the break with some quick counters, and when we lost the ball the way we did we knew there was chance they could catch us out.
“It’s not good enough, we’ve got to be switched on at all times. We’ve shot ourselves in the foot with our defending and it’s so disheartening going into this international break after a performance like that.”
