Thiago’s haunted by Hoops shocker

- EXCLUSIVE

BAYERN MUNICH ace Thiago last night warned his team mates not to underestimate Celtic - because they have stunned him before.

Celtic travel to Germany tomorrow for a crucial Champions League encounter against the Bundesliga giants on Wednesday.

Bayern looked back to their best as they trounced Freiburg 5-0 at the same time as Celtic were labouring to a 1-0 win against Dundee.

But the former Barcelona midfielder knows all about Celtic, having being a part of the celebrated Barca team of 2012 who travelled to Parkhead and lost 2-1.

And the Spain international stressed he will never underestimate the Scots after that traumatic evening.

Thiago said: “I was at Barcelona when we played Celtic five years ago when we lost.

“It was a weird game. I think we had the most possession of a team in any game of football.

“Suddenly, they scored the late goal and ended up winning the game. That is football. You can play like that and win.

“It shows what can happen in any game. For sure, that could happen to us again, but we will prepare well.

“We will look at all aspects of the game against Celtic and we will be ready for them.

And the midfielder insists the Bavarians will give the Hoops the same respect as a top tier side from south of the border.

He added: “I expect a tough game against Celtic. They are a good team and it will be like a game against an English team.

“They are always great games and Celtic will be difficult opponents.

“Of course, I know all about Brendan Rodgers. He did a great job at Liverpool.”
