Mourinho:ManUtd won’t be my last club

- By KEN MILLAR

JOSE MOURINHO has ruled out spending the rest of his career at Manchester United. And last night he dropped a heavy hint that he would welcome the chance to take charge of Paris St Germain before he quits.

The Red Devils manager said in an interview with French television that he was certain he would work elsewhere.

Mourinho was appointed by United in May 2016 and led the club to the Europa League title last season.

His side are vying with neighbours Manchester City for top spot in the Premier League this term, but 54-year-old Mourinho is keeping his future options open.

He said: “The only thing I can say is that I’m still a coach with worries, with ambitions, and with the desire to do new things.

“And I don’t believe... no, I’m sure that I won’t end my career here.”

Asked if that meant at Manchester United, Mourinho said: “Yes.”

Mourinho was responding to the question of whether he might one day be tempted to join PSG.

The club that broke the world transfer record by paying £200.6million to bring in Neymar from Barcelona in the summer have previously been linked with the Portuguese. And Mourinho explained his son has taken the French capital giants to his heart.

“The other day, my son who lives in London went to Paris and not to Manchester to watch the match,” Mourinho said.

Asked why his son chose that option, Mourinho said: “Because at the moment in Paris there is something special. Magic, quality, youth, it’s fantastic.”

Former translator Mourinho, who showed his multilingual skills by conducting the interview in French, has previously had high-profile spells in charge of Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

MEANWHILE, Gabriel Jesus joined the chorus of approval for Kevin De Bruyne after Manchester City swept Stoke aside with ease on Saturday.

De Bruyne was again at his scintillating best as City moved clear at the top of the Premier League with a 7-2 rout at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgian did not get on the scoresheet himself but he marked his 100th appearance for the club with a dynamic display that saw him set up four goals.

His vision opened Stoke the defence for early strikes from Jesus and Raheem Sterling before perfectly-weighted passes played in Jesus for a second and Leroy Sane later in the game. Stoke boss Mark Hughes said De Bruyne was “head and shoulders above anybody else in the Premier League” and Jesus was also full of praise.

“He is one of the best players in the world,” said the Brazil striker. “His quality is outstanding as an individual out on the pitch, but it’s the way that he makes that work for the whole team, and connects with the other players, that makes him special.”

His brilliance had fans chanting his name as the goals poured in during the second half, rather than the scorers themselves.

“Kevin deserves the love from the fans,” added Jesus, 20. “We can’t decide who they show their affection to but the important thing is that every player gives their all out on the pitch.

“We are scoring goals, making assists and winning games and that is the main thing.”
