is all about winning so ultimately we need to win games. I think it is collectively the whole group’s responsibility – the staff, the players, we all have to accept as a group it wasn’t good enough.

“We realise that. We came in [on Monday] and you could feel off every single player and staff that what happened wasn’t acceptable and hopefully we can put that right.

“It is not just the manager that is under pressure, we are under pressure to go and win games as well. If we don’t we are going to fall too far behind our rivals and that won’t be acceptable.”

“I don’t know,” he said when asked what the lack of big game wins is down to. “We are working hard. leading up to these games and we have got a plan, but at the minute the plans aren’t coming off.

“No, I don’t think [leadership is an issue]. We have experienced boys on the pitch – myself, Bruno [Alves], Tav (James Tavernier), people who have been here for a number of years now. I don’t believe leadership is lacking on the pitch, no.”
